Boatracs® to Spotlight Products That Connect Fishing Fleets to Their Office

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - March 26, 2001 - Boatracs®, a business unit of Advanced Remote Communication Solutions, Inc. (ARCOMS) (OTCBB: BTRK), announced today that it will feature its Internet e-mail functionality and new VComm IP™ software suite at the Eastern Canadian Fisheries Exposition in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to be held April 6-8. As the Canadian operation for Boatracs, Oceantrac Inc. will host the exhibit showcasing Boatracs’ host of marine communications products that aid fleet managers in optimizing their operations. Boatracs’ Internet e-mail provides cost-effective, reliable, and confidential communications, delivered any time, in any weather, via Cancom’s network of earth stations and satellites. File delivery from shore-to-ship, ship-to-shore or between boats can be processed with one interface, and special software is not required for PCs on shore.

According to Charles J. Drobny Jr., Chief Operating Officer for Boatracs, ”Our Internet e-mail service allows fishermen to schedule supply pick-ups, equipment repairs or other provisions prior to pulling into port, which increases efficiency and reduces downtime. Boatracs’ users send and receive e-mail, faxes, and data throughout Canada, North America or anywhere in the world. Whether they are in Nova Scotia, Quebec or British Columbia, staying in touch is as close as their home or office PC. With Boatracs’ optional subscription services, fishermen can also receive timely information on weather and water temperatures, while at sea, facilitating informed decisions that may contribute to a successful haul.”

The VComm IP software suite, along with Boatracs’ 24/7/365 Network Operations Center (NOC), automates and manages data queuing, scheduling, transmission, and provides fleet tracking information for the maritime fleet operator via the Internet.

”VComm IP software was recently introduced to complement Boatracs’ expanding range of marine communication services,” stated Drobny. ”The major advantage of VComm IP is its unique ability to reduce the cost of sending data files. VComm IP enables users to initiate shore–to–ship transfers at a substantially lower rate. An additional benefit for Boatracs’ Canadian customers is that VComm IP extends existing satellite coverage for vessels in the Labrador channel and North Atlantic.”

Boatracs will be located in booth #404 at the Eastern Canadian Fisheries Exposition at the Yarmouth Arena.
