Boatracs® Introduces Its Mini-M Optimizer - VComm IP™ at International WorkBoat Show 2000

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - November 20, 2000 - Boatracs, a business unit of Advanced Remote Communication Solutions, Inc. (ARCOMS) (OTCBB: BTRK.OB), announced today that it will introduce its VComm IP™ suite of communication and position-reporting software at the International WorkBoat Show 2000 in New Orleans, LA to be held on December 6-8. The VComm IP software suite, along with Boatracs' 24/7/365 Network Operations Center (NOC), automates and manages data queuing and scheduling, transmission, and provides fleet tracking information for the maritime fleet operator via the Internet.

The VComm IP software package consists of three components: VComm IP Vessel, VComm IP Office and VComm IP Server. The first two components are installed on customer's vessels and in the customer's home office, respectively. The third component operates in Boatracs' NOC and provides overall system control and management of message and data flow.

VComm IP enables commercial maritime operators to make optimal use of their Mini-M satellite phones by providing the ability to automatically transmit data as well as message and send vessel position information to the home office. This is accomplished via the Inmarsat satellite constellation and the NOC using Boatracs' proprietary software.

According to Charles J. Drobny, Jr., Chief Operating Officer of Boatracs, "The major advantage of VComm IP is its unique ability to reduce the cost of sending data files. VComm IP allows users to make the most of available bandwidth by transforming Mini-M into a store-and-forward message and file transfer medium. With VComm IP, our customers will pay only for what they need and not waste money on unnecessary network traffic overhead. In addition, VComm IP enables users to initiate shore-to-ship transfers at a substantially lower rate."

VComm IP works in conjunction with Boatracs' NOC to manage and monitor all Mini-M call traffic. Vessels can report in at any time, and any number of vessels can communicate simultaneously. There is no need for complex schedules or call priority rules. With VComm IP, companies do not need costly modem banks to handle their fleet communications. They can exchange data, send or receive messages and gather position information through VComm IP with any standard Internet connection.

Boatracs is partnering with Station 12® to deliver airtime service to its customers that operate fleets internationally. Station 12, regarded as one of today's most reliable and consistent airtime suppliers, is a world leader in mobile satellite communications.

Boatracs will be located in booth #852 at the International WorkBoat Show 2000 in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
