Maritime Communications and Software Firm Completes Spinoff

SAN DIEGO, CA, JUNE 16, 2010: Maritime software and communications leader Boatracs Inc announced today that it has completed establishing itself as an independent, privately held firm. Boatracs spun off from former parent company AirIQ Inc. in December 2009.

“We have completed our transition into a fully independent entity,” said Boatracs CEO Irwin Rodrigues, “and we were very pleased with our ability to complete the transition efficiently, while remaining focused on driving excellent business results in the first quarter of the year.”

Boatracs has been the leading provider of wireless maritime communications solutions for 20 years, Rodrigues continued. “Taking Boatracs private has given us the financial flexibility and capacity to invest our profits back into the company, and as a result, we are embarking on an exciting program of new product development to further our longstanding tradition of delivering consistently reliable and affordable communications and software solutions for the commercial maritime industry.”

Boatracs headquarters will remain in San Diego, California, Rodrigues said.
