Boatracs is participating in a pioneering program to address yellowtail bycatch by the scallop fishery on Georges Bank.  This ground-breaking program, designed and led by the School for Marine Science & Technology (SMAST) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and the SMAST Fisherman’s Steering Committee, has proven that real-time satellite communications systems can be effectively used to reach target harvest yields for the scallop fishing industry as well as meet conservation guidelines.
